GLENVIEW, Ill. – More than 90 Evans Scholars caddied for Web.com Tour professionals during the CIBC Pro-Am on Wednesday, May 22, ahead of the Evans Scholars Invitational at The Glen Club.

Evans Scholars will have a major presence at The Glen Club during the Evans Scholars Invitational. They helped kick off the week’s festivities on Wednesday, taking the place of the professionals’ regular caddies to raise awareness for the Evans Scholars Foundation.

“We’re proud to have our Evans Scholars on the bag for the Web.com Tour professionals,” said Vince Pellegrino, senior vice president of tournaments for the WGA. “It’s a great opportunity for these caddies to see championship-level golf from inside the ropes, and for the players to learn what the Evans Scholars Program is all about.”

All proceeds from the Evans Scholars Invitational will support the Evans Scholars Foundation’s efforts to award full tuition and housing college scholarships to hardworking caddies.

“There’s an added sense of pride participating in this event, because the Evans Scholars Invitational benefits us and future generations of caddies,” said University of Illinois Evans Scholar Nate Mehta, who caddied for Scottie Scheffler on Wednesday. “This is one way that we as Evans Scholars can give back to a Program that has given so much to us."

Since 1930, the Foundation has sent more than 11,800 young men and women with limited financial means to college. There are currently 985 Evans Scholars attending 18 leading universities nationwide, and the Foundation has awarded 280 new scholarships for the fall of 2019.

Tournament play will begin at The Glen Club on Thursday, May 23. Entry to the Evans Scholars Invitational is complimentary all week, courtesy of a partnership with Edward Jones.
