GLENVIEW, Ill. – For the first time in his career, Marcelo Rozo holds a 54-hole lead on the Web.com Tour. The 29-year-old posted a three-day total of 14-under 202 to lead by one at The Glen Club. Vince Covello is alone in second at 13-under 203, while Michael Gligic and Tyler McCumber are tied for third at 12-under 204.

Rozo began his third round with three consecutive pars before birdies on Nos. 4 and 5. He added four consecutive pars to make the turn at 11-under for the tournament. Rozo quickly added a birdie on the par-4 10th but gave it back with a bogey on No. 11. After a par on No. 12, Rozo used birdies on Nos. 13, 14 and 18 to take the solo-lead into Sunday.

“I played pretty good off the tee and with my putter,” Rozo said. “They were tough conditions, but I stayed patient. I managed myself and didn’t look at the leaderboard throughout the whole round. I just did my thing.”

Rozo is making only his 25th start on the Web.com Tour this week. His best finish to date is a T16 at the 2018 WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by KraftHeinz. Rozo has made four cuts in nine starts this year but ranks 142nd in The 25. The lack of experience doesn’t seem to bother Rozo, who has taken a new approach to his mental game this week.

“I was struggling before, but you always learn,” Rozo said. “Just keeping calm and having fun out there is the most important thing for me. We are blessed to play golf for a living, and sometimes we forget that. It’s good to put it back in perspective and that’s what I’ve been doing this week.”

Rozo has plenty of previous experience to draw back on. The Bogota, Colombia, native has three victories and four runner-up finishes in 92 starts on the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica circuit.

“I miss this, the nerves,” Rozo said. “When I’m in the hunt for a tournament, I enjoy it. There’s a lot of good players on Latinoamerica that have won here, and I played against all of them. But I need to stay in the present and keep doing the same things. That’s why we play golf, to give ourselves a chance on Sunday.”

Vince Covello is one stroke off the lead at 13-under 203. Covello fired a third-round 70 that featured four birdies against two bogeys. He began the day with birdies on Nos. 1 and 4. After a bogey on No. 7, he played his final 11 holes at 1-under to finish alone in second.

Covello earned his first Web.com Tour title earlier this year at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS, where he entered the final round tied for second. With a solo-second or better tomorrow, the 36-year-old would pass the 830-point threshold that is estimated to earn players a PGA TOUR card next season.

“Tomorrow I’m going to go out and stick to my process and do my thing,” Covello said. “All I can do is play my game and execute the best that I can. It was kind of the same situation, Justin Lower had the lead last time in Louisiana, so I might get a little better sleep tonight. But we’ll see, I’m looking forward to it.”

Final-round tee times will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Sunday with groups teeing off Nos. 1 and 10.
