NV5 Invitational moves to July in 2023
GLENVIEW, Ill. – The NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank will move to a new summer date starting next year, the Western Golf Association and Korn Ferry Tour announced today. The tournament, which has been held over Memorial Day weekend since its first year in 2019, will be played July 25-30, 2023.
WGA officials also announced the extension of a partnership with KemperSports and The Glen Club that will bring the best players on the Korn Ferry Tour back to the Tom Fazio-designed layout through at least 2026.
“These new dates will enable us to take advantage of the Chicago’s beautiful summer season and solidify our event as a can’t-miss stop on the Korn Ferry Tour,” said Vince Pellegrino, WGA senior vice president of tournaments. “The Glen Club has been a fantastic host since 2019, and it’s a perfect venue for a championship with so much at stake. We’re excited to renew our partnership.”
With the Korn Ferry Tour announcing plans to award an unprecedented 30 PGA TOUR cards at the end of next year, the NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank’s new dates will place the championship in the middle of a critical closing stretch. Only a few events will be played between the NV5 Invitational and the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, which means the traditionally strong field will be even more competitive as players fight for position and a coveted promotion to the PGA TOUR.
Scottie Scheffler, now the top-ranked player in the world, won the inaugural NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank in 2019, using his victory as a springboard to PGA TOUR stardom. Past champions Curtis Thompson (2020) and Cameron Young (2021) are also playing on the PGA TOUR this year.
Harry Hall, of Hayle, England, won the 2022 NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank at The Glen Club, outlasting Nick Hardy, of Northbrook, Illinois, in a playoff. Hall is currently ranked No. 15 in the Korn Ferry Tour’s season-long standings, with the top 25 earning PGA TOUR cards at the end of the year.
All proceeds from the championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation and its mission to award full tuition and housing college scholarships to high-achieving youth caddies with limited financial means.
“After a dramatic finish in 2022, we’re excited about what the future holds for this championship,” said Dickerson Wright, PE, Chairman and CEO of NV5. “We’re proud to provide a stage for these talented players to pursue their dreams while helping the Evans Scholars Foundation make a difference in the lives of young men and women across the country.”
The Glen Club, owned and operated by KemperSports, has hosted the NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank since 2019, except for 2020, when complications from the COVID-19 pandemic led to the event being played at Chicago Highlands Club in Westchester, Illinois, in September.
Sitting on the former site of the Glenview Naval Air Station, Fazio’s North Shore masterpiece features 195 acres of rolling terrain, dramatic elevation changes and stunning vistas. It was also the home of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Bank of America Open from 2022 through 2008, producing an impressive list of champions, including 2013 PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner (2006) and 2015 Senior Open Championship winner Marco Dawson (2002).
“We’re pleased to extend our partnership with the WGA and bring the best players on the Korn Ferry Tour back to the Chicago area,” said Josh Lesnik, executive vice president of KemperSports. “The Glen Club is committed to creating a great hospitality experience for sponsors, players and fans and providing a test of golf that identifies the players capable of winning on the PGA TOUR.”
This is the event’s second year with title sponsor NV5. With more than 100 offices around the world, NV5 is a leading provider of compliance, technology, engineering and environmental consulting solutions.
Old National Bank is in the third year of a four-year presenting sponsorship agreement. Old National Bank hosts a junior clinic during championship week while also supporting the Evans Scholars Foundation’s career services program, a resource that prepares Evans Scholars to launch successful careers after graduation.
